(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jessica Simpson's baby has "taken over" her life.

The star and her fianc Eric Johnson welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew into the world on May 1.

Jessica has introduced her first child to fans by appearing on the front cover of People magazine. The star is seen beaming as she clutches the little girl, who boasts a shock of brown hair. The tot has a cream dress with brown neck panelling on and appears to be sleeping.

"Life has completely changed," Jessica says in the accompanying interview. "From how I sleep to what I think about, Maxwell has definitely taken over everything!"

The new parents still can't believe they have a baby together. They think Maxwell has taken after Jessica when it comes to her looks, but is more like her dad in personality.

"We stare at her all the time," the star said. "We can't get enough!"

Jessica, 31, gave birth to Maxwell via caesarean section and is still recovering from the operation. She is breastfeeding the new arrival, which also took some getting used to.

"It's the worst if I have to pump and give Eric a bottle to give her. I miss holding her and having that closeness," Jessica said. (C) Cover Media
