J.K. Rowling receives multi-million dollar jewel

20th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - J.K. Rowling was given a multi-million dollar bracelet by Warner Bros. as a thank-you gift following the release of the last Harry Potter movie.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the eighth and final movie in the wizard franchise, which has made stars of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. The series was based on the set of best-selling novels by J.K., with the movies hugely popular. The final instalment has already broken US box office records, taking $170 million.

Movie studio Warner Bros. were keen to show J.K. how grateful they were for allowing them to adapt her novels, so presented her with a lavish gift to show their appreciation.

Chief Executive Officer Barry Meyer gave the author a "white gold, antique 40-diamond bracelet worth millions of dollars" at the after-party following the London premiere last week, according to TMZ.

It's claimed J.K. was worried about showing the piece off at first because she knew it wasn't insured and was terrified she might misplace it. To help her relax, two security guards were put in place who apparently followed her around.

It seems Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is likely to break even more records over the coming weeks, as it's already garnered $500 million around the globe. (C) Cover Media
