John claims his next to be India's 'Argo'

2nd March 2013

Actor turned producer John Abraham flagged off a new style of films when he ventured into filmmaking with his debut movie 'Vicky Donor' which revolved around the taboo issue of sperm donation in India. And with his next production too, John is pushing the boundaries beyond limits.

The actor/filmmaker is gung-ho about his next home production which is a political thriller titled 'Madras Cafe'. He claims that his film is the 'Argo' of India. "My team saw the rushes of the film yesterday and they immediately compared it to 'Argo'," said an elated John.

He adds that with this film he wanted to prove that Bollywood too can make films at par with Hollywood. "For me 'Madras Cafe' is like any other international film which India can proudly showcase. Though I've enjoyed films like 'Golmaal' and 'Housefull' as they have made us laugh, but then I want to prove that our films go beyond the caricature of the typical song-dance sequences," added John.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, starring John and Nargis Fakhri in the lead, the film is slated to release in August.
