John Travolta: I don't want a stale marriage

16th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - John Travolta and Kelly Preston discuss what they want from their marriage every six months to ensure it doesn't go "stale".

The couple have been married since 1991 and are proud of their long and happy union. John insists there is no major secret to staying together, explaining it's just about being there for each other and taking your partner into consideration as much as possible.

The pair are devoted Scientologists and their religion also helps them stay strong.

"Communication is number one, but our church does a lot to help us keep together. When we have issues, we go settle it up. Almost every six months we go and do a retrofit of what we are thinking, what we need and want and we match it up with what the other needs and wants," he explained. "If you don't do that you kind of get stale a little bit. Certainly our children have kept us tied together."

The pair have three kids together, Ella Bleu, 11, six-month-old Benjamin and Jett, who passed away in 2009 when he was 16.

Benjamin has brought joy to the family following the loss of Jett, who died after suffering a seizure while on holiday in the Bahamas. He is a bright and bubbly baby, with John laughing everyone falls in love with him when they are introduced as the tot is so jolly.

"Oh my gosh he's amazing. He is so bright, cute, healthy and wonderful," he told Extra. "He has a smile for everybody, he brightens everybody's day. He's quite a baby. He's starting to crawl, he's just wonderful."

It's Father's Day in America this weekend and John is looking forward to the holiday. He doesn't need anything fancy to know he's special to his kids, and hopes to spend the day playing and joking with them.

"Honestly, if I get to spend the day with the kids in the pool, or something fun like that, I would love that," he said. (C) Cover Media
