(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have formed a "very intense" friendship.

The two stars appeared in the 2011 movie The Rum Diary. They got along famously and have continued spending time together as pals since the shoot wrapped.

"Johnny and Amber have formed a very intense relationship and have become incredibly close," a source told the British edition of Grazia magazine.

The Hollywood hunk is rumoured to have been among a group who helped celebrate Amber's recent 26th birthday.

Johnny has been battling rumours his relationship with Vanessa Paradis is on the rocks over the last few months.

Despite many reports suggesting they are no longer together, the 48-year-old actor has insisted they are wide of the mark.

He recently attended the premiere of his movie Dark Shadows in London and did his best to put the speculation to rest.

"There's no truth anymore," he said. "It doesn't matter what I say to you right now. It doesn't make any difference." (C) Cover Media
