(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Johnny Depp does his best not to get "bugged" in his spare time.

The Hollywood star occasionally finds his job stressful, but manages to vent those feelings when he's in character. Off set, he's usually relaxed and happy and hopes to remain that way.

"I try not to get frustrated. Life is good. A movie's a movie. I don't get bugged so much," he told FOX411 Pop Tarts. "I suppose if I have any real outlet it's for sure within the work. It comes out within my work."

Johnny's latest movie is The Rum Diary, based on a book by Hunter S. Thompson. He plays a journalist who moves to Puerto Rico after becoming disillusioned with his life in New York.

It's the second time Johnny has appeared in an adaptation of one of the author's tomes, following 1998's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Although it's taken a long time for the movie to come to fruition, Johnny is simply happy to be a part of it.

"Fourteen years ago Hunter [who died in 2005] and I were sitting on the floor of his basement reading the manuscript to this thing that we'd unearthed and him saying, I think we should produce this. We should make this film together.' I said, Alright,' and then a long road, long road, long road, long road, and bang here we are," he explained. "So that was the certainly the passion."

Meanwhile, Johnny has got revenge on Ricky Gervais.

The comedian was rude about Johnny's movie The Tourist at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year.

Ricky joked that everything in movies was 3D last year, "except the characters in The Tourist" and implied no one wanted to see it.

Johnny has now shot scenes for Ricky's new comedy show Life's Too Short, in which the Hollywood star berates him for the remarks.

Asked by a character if he's ever met Ricky, Johnny replied: "I actually remember him from the Golden Globes."

Ricky quickly asks Johnny how he's been, with the star stating: "I'm fine, man. Just doing another film that's going to make loads of money, probably a lot more money than any film you've ever made. And you?"

When Ricky asks if he's upset Johnny in some way, the actor admits he's still smarting about being "trashed" in front of "200 million people".

"I actually got together with a few pals after the awards, and we wrote some jokes about you," Johnny added. (C) Cover Media
