Jonah Hill thrilled' by award nominations

15th December 2011

Jonah Hill feels "fantastic" about his recent award nominations.

The comedian is in the running to receive a Screen Actors Guild Satellite Award and a Golden Globe for his supporting role opposite Brad Pitt in Moneyball.

Jonah admits that this week's official award announcements have left him stunned.

"[I feel] fantastic, but I have been trying not to get wrapped up in all of this, in everything," Jonah told People magazine.

"Any expectation of getting a SAG nomination or an Oscar nomination are sort of absurd expectations to put on yourself. So the fact that I actually got this nomination was so overwhelmingly moving and thrilling and surreal. I am really just kind of shocked."

Jonah's loved ones were exceptionally proud of his accomplishments when they heard the news.

"The phone calls and emails I have gotten today are unlike any I have ever experienced. I feel like I got married or had a kid or something," Jonah explained.

"I have never had anything like this happen to me before. My parents were actually crying."

Jonah felt that his role portraying Peter Brand in the film was special from the onset.

"It is not too often you get the second lead opposite Brad Pitt in a film," he said.

"It did feel like a momentous occasion in my life when I got the part, and it was."

Jonah is contending against Kenneth Branagh, Albert Brooke, Viggo Mortensen and Christopher Plummer in the Golden Globes category.

For the SAG award he is competing with Kenneth, Christopher, Armie Hammer and Nick Nolte.

The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards and the 69th Annual Golden Globes Awards will be staged in January 2012.
