Josh Lucas has become a father.

The little boy called Noah was born last Friday in New York and weighed in at 9lbs 4oz

The actor had announced that his wife Jessica is pregnant only three months earlier in March.

The happy couple also got married that month, just weeks after revealing their engagement on US programme The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

The little boy is Lucas' first child and his full name is Noah Rev Maurer.

The star had previously spoken about the excitement of becoming a father.

He also revealed that he has been experiencing all the emotional ups and downs of expecting a child together with his spouse.

"I've heard that one of the things that does happen being a parent is that you are emotional in ways that are surprising and that feelings happen inside of you that you have never understood or known - and I must say already the experience of being pregnant, that's been true," he told Canadian TV show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. "We're still a few months away but everyone always says that you never know what it is until you experience it and so far that's absolutely true."
