It was recently cleared through an official announcement that Kangna Ranaut will play female lead in Sanjay Gupta’s next directorial venture "Shootout at Wadala". In the film Kangna plays the love interest of John Abraham who is playing the role of real life don Manya Surve in the film. The story of the film is of 70’s – 80’s and hence Kangna too will have to undergo a huge makeover to authenticate her character sketch.

“I play a Maharashtrian girl in the film and since its set in 70’s and 80’s I wanted to keep my style as authentic as possible,” said Kangna. And in order to get the retro look she has been asked to refer to evergreen beauty Rekha and Smita Patil’s style. Kangna says that she has always looked up to Rekha and Smita for their trend setting fashion sense. She exclaimed that they were extremely experimental and successful as style icons.

And as the film’s shooting has already begun the actress too is all set to don the colorful retro avatar with full force.
