(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katie Holmes spent a pre-Emmys party enjoying a cookery lesson with a top chef.

The actress was one of many to attend talent agency CAA's bash on Friday night. It was to celebrate the prestigious awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, although some stars ditched drinks and nibbles in favour of a class on cooking.

"Thomas Keller offered celebs the chance to join him in the pastry kitchen at his Bouchon in Beverly Hills," New York Post reported. "The actress was first in line."

Katie was spotted piping filling for French macaroons and baking baguettes. The actress even took some home for husband Tom Cruise and daughter Suri.

Other budding chef's at the lesson included Brett Ratner, Ryan Seacrest, Les Moonves, Jamie Foxx, Jeremy Renner, Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Colicchio.

Katie has previously admitted that she isn't much of a chef, and often allows Tom to take over in the kitchen. However, she is very eager to learn.

"I don't really cook that much," Katie explained. "Eventually I will. I do make cupcakes. [Tom] makes his pasta carbonara for me. He knows exactly how to do it: a pinch of this, a pinch of that. He has a recipe, but he kind of [improvises] by himself." (C) Cover Media
