(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katy Perry developed a nasty rash after she was bitten by a spider during her honeymoon in the Maldives, it has been reported.

The pop star tied the knot with British comic Russell Brand in a traditional Indian ceremony last month, near to where Russell proposed. After their lavish wedding, the newlyweds travelled to the Maldives for a romantic break. However, their plans for a relaxing holiday were dashed after Katy was bitten by an arachnid, according to Australian magazine Grazia. It is believed the incident happened soon after the loved-up couple arrived at their idyllic location last week.

Following the bite, the 26-year-old singer developed a painful rash on her legs and had to take a course of medication. The pair had reportedly abstained from having sex in the run up to the wedding, but their hopes for a marathon romantic reunion had to be delayed because the antibiotics left Katy feeling drowsy.

Katy and Russell had been staying in the exclusive Soneva Fushi resort, which costs around $8,000-a-night. It is believed the pair chose the stunning location in the Indian Ocean because it is so remote and has been previously visited by stars including Tom Cruise and Madonna. (C) Cover Media
