Katy Perry no longer needs a "prince charming" to make her happy.

The American singer is in the process of getting divorced from Russell Brand, following a 14 month marriage. Their split is charted in her new concert movie Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D and she has hinted it has made her totally rethink what she wants from life.

"Always, love is an incredible emotion," she replied, when asked if she is open to finding love again. "If you lived life without love you wouldn't be living. I feel like to shut that out of my life just because I've had an interesting experience it would be very unfortunate. My fairy tale has altered I don't necessarily need the prince charming in order to have the happy ending, I can have the happy ending for myself at this point in time."

Although their relationship fell apart, Katy is still glad she was with Russell for several years. She has now moved on and is ready for the next stage in her life.

"I look like I'm having fun right? I'm totally cool," she told UK TV show Daybreak. "I'm just excited. I do have a second chance at life and also that I already have a brilliant life and sometimes I need to remind myself.

"Everything is a lessons learned. Everybody asks me if there are any regrets: no, this is a very valuable lesson. You have to live life in order to achieve those lessons. It was important to me to show the real honest side of me."
