Katy Perry: I get OCD when I’m stressed

15th August 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katy Perry knows she needs to take a break when she starts obsessing about fluff on people’s clothes.

The singer is currently promoting her new album Teenage Dream, and has been jetting all over the world to talk about it. She is also planning her wedding to Russell Brand, rumoured to be taking place in the autumn, and admits things sometimes get too much for her.

She tries to take breaks wherever possible, and has developed a failsafe way of knowing when she needs time out. “I get bad spots or I start getting OCD about fluff on people’s clothes when things get too intense,” she laughed. “That’s the time to clear the diary for a proper break.”

Katy was raised in Santa Barbara, and it is her favourite place to go when she needs to relax. She loves the sunny weather there, explaining spending time on the beach is all she needs to make her feel good.

The star lives with Russell in Los Angeles, and while they enjoy their life there it doesn’t feel like home. Santa Barbara will always hold a special place in Katy’s heart as it makes her think of growing up with her parents Mary and Keith and her siblings.

Katy’s parents are pastors and her upbringing was religious, but she gets annoyed when people assume her family don’t like her music. When her hit I Kissed A Girl was released there were rumours Keith and Mary were unhappy, but Katy insists they are untrue.

“Lots has been written about how my mother and father disapproved of my music, but they are experienced people,” she told British newspaper The Times. “They know that I was never simply going to live out my life by their rules. They saw I had a modicum of talent and they let me grow with it. Of course they worry. It can be a nasty business, the music business. But they also see that I’m making it work.” (C) Cover Media
