(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katy Perry has described her new husband Russell Brand as a great man of God.
The pop star tied the knot with the British comic in a traditional Indian ceremony last month, near to where Russell proposed. After their lavish wedding, the newlyweds travelled to the Maldives to enjoy their honeymoon.
The pair got engaged on New Years Eve last year, just months after they started dating. Even though many were shocked by the whirlwind romance, newlywed Katy has now revealed she never had any doubt that 35-year-old Russell was the man of her dreams.
"I always knew I wanted a great man of God, someone who was going to be an inspiration for people and also be a lovely husband and father," Katy told the December issue of Harper's Bazaar. "I also definitely wanted to have a laugh. I have all that in him."
The 26-year-old singer went on to reveal her feelings for Russell inspired her to write Not Like the Movies. The ballad appears on her new album and she hopes it will encourage people never to settle for anything besides spectacular.
When the couple first began dating, many people were surprised at the blossoming romance due to Russells womanising past and battle with drug addiction, and Katy having such religious parents.
However, Katy insists her personality and background perfectly complements Russells and the pair bring out the best in each other.
"We're at different places in our lives, but we can still grow together. He's thought-provoking, articulate, a real advocate, she explained. "I'm kind of a good girl and I'm not. I'm a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect. I'm a bad girl because I like to tease.
I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That's what the stories in my music do." (C) Cover Media
