(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kevin Costner hopes to put a new twist on his role in the upcoming Superman movie.

The 56-year-old star of Dances with Wolves and The Bodyguard will lend his expertise to the latest instalment of the superhero franchise, with reports suggesting he is set to play the heros father.

Superman is sent to Earth in a rocket as a boy, and he is discovered by farmer Jonathan and his wife Martha in the town of Smallville. The couple decide to raise the infant as their own son, calling him Clark.

Although remaining tight-lipped over his involvement, Kevin confirmed the film will be unique.

"Yeah well we shall see how different. I'm not giving any trade secrets, you gotta pay... How much is it now to go to a movie? You never know, its kinda like oil, the prices just keep going up and up and up. I look forward to making that movie, throwing our spin on it," the actor told Extra. (C) Cover Media
