September 18, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It has been announced that a particular Suburban Atlanta jury has awarded a $40,000 fine to a man who claims that musician Kid Rock and his entourage physically assaulted him and also smashed his cell phone during a fight at a Waffle House restaurant in the year 2007.
The accuser, Harlen Akins, had sued Kid Rock aka Robert James Ritchie, along with five members of his entourage over the fight. The DeKalb County State Court Judge Johnny Panos dismissed a couple of the defendants, this Thursday.
Akins sought $6,000 in medical fees and an indefinite amount in penal damages. The jury had decided not to award the punitive damages, but gave him a sum of $40,000 in the form of compensatory damages. The jury also saw a lot of aggravation from both the sides and thus couldn't point the finger totally to either party. This was according to the foreman, who refused to give his name, but stated that a sum of $6,000 was granted for remedial expenses, while $700 was given for the market price of the couple of cell phones. The rest of the amount was granted for both pain and suffering.
