(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kim Kardashian has revealed she is engaged to Kris Humphries.

The 30-year-old reality television star has been dating professional basketball player Kris, 26, for six months and was over the moon to discover the words "Will you marry me?" written in rose petals in her bedroom as Kris stood on bended knee.

The proposal took place on May 18, and Kim has revealed to People magazine how thrilled she is.

"I didn't expect this at all," she told the publication.

"I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now."

Kris asked for Kim's hand with a custom-designed, 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring, as he knew his fiance would appreciate something glamorous. He then threw a party for the Kardashian family later that evening, which Kim's mom Kris Jenner helped to plan.

"I just knew I wanted it to be big," he explained of the sparkler.

The celebratory bash turned out to be a humorous affair, with some rather unusual equine guests. Kim explained how her fianc had initially planned a low-key affair, but in true Kardashian style the event ended up being glitzy.

"Kris really didn't want a big celebration, but he had jokingly told my mom he'd be fine if there were mini-horses there," laughed Kim.

"Later that night at the party, my mom brought out two mini-horses, covered in glitter, for us! It was hysterical!"

Kim has spoken in the past about she had always expected to settle down young. The beauty turned 30 last year and had admitted she always thought she'd be married with children at the landmark age.

"I think it was hard for Kim when I got married. It was a wake-up call for her. It wasn't jealousy as such it was more, Oh my God, my little sister is getting married.' I was in a place she wanted to get to. It made her reflect a lot," her younger sister Khlo, 26, previously said. (C) Cover Media
