(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jared Followill is engaged.

The Kings of Leon bassist has confirmed he is to marry his partner Martha Patterson. He announced the news on Twitter but decided against posting an emotional message about his fiance.

"It's true! I'm engaged! CANNOT wait to finally lose my virginity (sic)," he wrote.

Jared's representative gave a little more information by releasing a statement about the happy news.

"Yes, it's true! Jared proposed to Martha on April 11 at his home in Nashville and we're all excited for the newly engaged couple," the statement read.

The musician has been dating Martha for around five months. Despite the newness of their romance, he is adamant she is The One and gave her a four carat, cushion cut diamond when he popped the question.

So far there has been no news on when the pair will tie the knot.

Jared teased his fans about his engagement, telling them he had big news to share with them around a day before he made the Twitter post.

Many began quizzing him on what the announcement was, with some making strange guesses.

"Everybody begging for a new KOL album: Of course that will happen. No worries about that. That's not the news. That should be expected," Jared wrote.

"Everybody asking if I'm pregnant: I'm not the type who will wait the mandatory 8-12 weeks to tell you. As soon I see a +, I'm tweeting it (sic)."

Jared is in Kings of Leon with his brothers Caleb and Nathan and their cousin Matthew. All of his bandmates already have wives. (C) Cover Media
