Aamir Khan's better half and director Kiran Rao has now added one more feather to her hat. Kiran is appointed as the new chairperson of MAMI film festival.

Former chairperson, Shyam Benegal said, "Yes, I am stepping down as the chairperson. Kiran is a fiercely independent and a very able lady. I realised that what was plaguing the festival was a generation gap. It needs young energy.Kiran has made some terrific contacts during this edition and I'm sure she will pull it off in the future. The same is true for Anupama who will take over as the festival director."

The veteran filmmaker held the position for 16 long years. Along with Kiran, it is also heard that film critic Anupama Chopra will be the new festival director.

Srinivasan Narayanan, former festival director of MAMI said, "We're still in the middle of a lot of paper work. In a month's time, we will have more clarity on this."
