(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kim Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner has denied that the family made a fortune from her daughter's wedding.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians matriarch spoke out for the first time since Kim filed for divorce yesterday from husband Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage.

She told Johnjay and Rich's radio show that Kim "didn't make a dime" from the lavish nuptials on August 20.

"The one thing that is the most annoying is the rumour that she made millions off of this wedding and she didn't make a dime," Kris maintained.

"[Kim] actually spent millions of dollars on the wedding so it's not something that she thought would ever not be happily ever after."

It had been reported that the 31-year-old reality star earned $18 million for the event that was attended by 450 people including many celebrities.

Kris said that despite the negative feedback from Kim's divorce filing, she will just be there as a shoulder to cry on for her daughter.

"Kim had to make a very difficult, grown-up decision," the mother-of-six shared. "She needed to do that on her own. She's not a five-year-old girl, she's a 30-year-old woman and right now Kim needs support from her mom today."

Kris did not say whether Kim will be returning all of her wedding gifts but said that she will be doing something for a worthy cause.

"I'm sure Kim will make a ginormous donation as she does all the time anyway very quietly to a wonderful deserving charity or a children's hospital," Kris revealed.

She did add however that she wished Kim and Kris had gone to counselling to try and work out the issues in their relationship.

"I met and married Bruce [Jenner] in five months and it is 20 years later and we're still going strong and I think that obviously I feel that way about marriage because it has its ups and downs," she wistfully.

"She's not the first person in the world to get a divorce and she won't be the last. She just happens to be a very public person with a couple of television shows on the air so it makes it bigger than life."

Meanwhile TMZ are reporting that Kris' family think Kim is making a huge "mistake" for giving up on their union so quickly.

But the insider said that Kris still feels he can convince Kim to not go through with the divorce because it would "kill" him if the relationship is really over. (C) Cover Media
