The actress plays straight-laced Rachel Berry in American series Glee, about a group of high-school misfits who form a singing club. The show has won a series of awards and been a huge hit around the world, something which Lea is really proud of. She has also starred in musicals on New Yorks Broadway, but is glad its Glee which has won her the most fans.
These days you can become famous for a lot of things, but ours comes from being part of something that's so important, she said. There is some bad stuff that comes with this kind of popularity. But no matter what's going on in my life, the next thing I know, we're jumping on mattresses, having slushies thrown at us or just having fun with each other. It really does make everything OK.
Lea was speaking in a joint interview with her co-star Cory Monteith, who was equally as glowing about the series. Hes likes that it is so positive, but admits he almost didnt get the part of Finn Hudson as he was too embarrassed to audition. He felt self-conscious about singing in front of other people, but his manager made him turn up and give it a shot.
Cory is determined not to let fame go to his head, explaining when he first started out in the industry he had no idea what it was really like.
I see the people in the tabloids, the ones that get bad press, who have kind of gone off the edge, and I try to study them so that I don't do that, he told Teen Vogue. I didn't even know that you could get paid to be an actor when I first started doing this.
The pair also appeared to confirm co-stars Mark Salling, who plays Puck, and Naya Rivera, who appears as Santana, once dated. The pair have previously denied they were romantically involved, but Lea let slip they have been an item.
