Lindsay Lohan's father was rushed to hospital Thursday.
Michael Lohan was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida last night due to severe chest pains and shortness of breath, RadarOnline reports.
Lindsay's 51-year-old estranged father was tested by doctors and his blood pressure was found to be at dangerously high levels.
Michael is scheduled to undergo a procedure called angioplasty, in which doctors insert a stent into an artery stemming from his heart in an attempt to rectify declining blood flow.
He is also going to have a blood clot removed from his lungs.
Michael has a history of heart problems.
His current health problems arise in the midst of a medley of legal issues.
Michael is currently on probation for two years after he entered a no contest plea in November to domestic violence charges against his former fianc Kate Major.
His daughter Lindsay is also troubled with legal woes.
The actress was released from prison after spending just four-and-a-half hours behind bars earlier this month after pleading guilty to violating her probation. She was sentenced to 30 days and checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California.
Lindsay is now free, but is still under strict probation terms.
Michael is expected to make a full recovery within a week.
He will return to his court-ordered rehabilitation programme immediately upon his release from hospital.
