(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have been unveiled as the new judges for American Idol.

The shows host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement during a live webcast earlier today. Aerosmith rocker Steven was the first to be introduced on stage at the Forum in Los Angeles, followed by a smiling Jennifer who revealed she is confident the new judging panel will discover the hottest talent yet.

Im so excited. Its about concentrating on the moment and doing the best you can, you can do anything you want in this life, Jennifer, who looked stunning in a pale jumpsuit, told the crowd. Just live. Im looking for the next Michael Jackson! I want it to be the best American Idol ever!

Producer Randy Jackson is the only original judge remaining on the panel, after Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi all announced they were leaving the show earlier this year.

There have been months of speculation about who would join the judging panel for the tenth season of the US talent programme.

A host of big names were linked to the show with Jennifer and Steven always believed to be favourites. Steven appeared to confirm the reports earlier this year, while Jennifer is said to have signed a $12 million deal to appear on the judging panel.

Shania Twain, Sir Elton John, Harry Connick Jr., Jamie Foxx, Usher, Bret Michaels, Courtney Love, 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake and former judge Paula Abdul were also rumoured to be in the running.

The new series of American Idol will allow aspiring musicians to submit their auditions via MySpace and they are also dropping the contestant age limit to 15. (C) Cover Media
