January 3, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): 'Lost', the cult series has reportedly topped the list of the top ten most pirated television series in the US. This was followed closely by yet another cult series of NBC 'Heroes'.
According to reports in the Torrent Freak, the ABC drama had almost reached an estimated 6million downloads despite having closed down in May 2010.
The figures released, according to popular tabloids were 'Lost' had garnered an estimated 5,940.000 with TV viewers is 13.5 million, next in line was Heroes at 5,480.000 according to the 2010 readings. With a viewership on US television being 5.3 million.
The cult series 'Lost' had also topped the list in 2009 which had a slightly higher figure registered in the books than compared to this years figures.
The third position was occupied by the drama series 'Dexter' with an estimated 3.88 million downloads. The shows estimated viewership figures were at 2.54 million.
Closely following was 'The Big Bang Theory' at number four with a total of 3,880.000 downloads and 'House' at number five with 2,610.000 downloads.
According to reports, the cult series 'Lost 'has helped in showing the growing trends of viewers becoming quite impatient for the show to go on air and start downloading it just to get the whiff of the show before it is officially aired.
Viewers in the US have however declined due to alternative shows but with viewers in Europe and Australia, the pirated downloading has remained almost at par with that of last year.US television shows are almost always in great demand all over the world.
The top five positions occupied by the shows in the illegally most downloaded list were
1. 'Lost' recorded a download of 5,940,000 times,
2. 'Heroes' was close behind with 5,480,000
3. 'Dexter' with 3,880,000
4. 'The Big Bang Theory' with 3,270,000
5. 'House' had reportedly been downloaded 2,610,000 times.
