'Madhubana Kadai', the movie that has been stirring curiosity among people from quite some time is ready for release. Debutant filmmaker Kamalakannan is set to make a mark in the industry with his maiden venture.
The movie is an emotional and humorous tale of one day that revolves around a wine shop that becomes an important part of a group of hardcore drinkers’ day. To get the film right Kamalakannan spend three months circling and observing liquor shops and bars.
“We put up a set of a liquor shop in a marriage hall in Erode and engaged several amateur actors for playing the various characters in the story. All of us stayed in the rooms attached to the hall and rehearsed through the day. Significantly, the story ends when the shop closes for a public holiday (Gandhi Jayanthi), the next day" revealed director Kamalakannan
"Madhubana Kadai does not glorify drinking and does not purport to send any strong messages. It is for the viewers to see, absorb and learn whatever they can. I am very happy, given the sensitive subject the censors have passed the film without any cuts” he added.
But the million dollar question is will Madhubana Kadai be able to strike a chord with the audience.
