Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar known for his realistic films in Bollywood, has added one more feather to his hat.

Madhur has been awarded with the most coveted 'Sophia Award' at the Syracuse International Film Festival in New York. 

After Tom Bower presented him the award, the director took to the micro blogging site to express his happiness. "Honored to have received the SOPHIA award today (Sunday) from Tom Bower at Syaracuse Film Festival, New York! @SYRFILM (sic)."

Bhandarkar's movie 'Heroine' and 'Fashion' were screened at the film festival. Known for his award winning films, Madhur is now working on his forthcoming project 'Calendar Girls'.
