Madonna thinks people are "intimidated" by her power.
The star is one of the most famous singers in the world and has also worked in movies and created clothing. She loves her job but wishes people would take the time to get to know her, rather than treating her as a subject of awe.
"When women have some kind of power, and we don't understand them, we have to diminish them," she told the British edition of Grazia magazine.
"Yeah I think people often misunderstand my power and get intimidated by that rather than trying to understand me."
The star knows fame is one of the by-products of what she does but she isn't sure about being a celebrity. Although being well known has advantages, Madonna warns it's important not to take things at face value.
"I'm interested in [fame] as I am kind of wary of it. I think it has its pluses and minuses. I think everyone is intrigued and wants to have a part of that kind of world but if you are smart you realise the trap that it is as well," she explained.
