Madonna slammed for drug reference'

26th March 2012

Madonna has provoked controversy by allegedly using a slang term for the drug ecstasy during a recent concert.

World famous musician DJ Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, became upset after the Material girl made the reference at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami this weekend.

The 53-year-old asked the audience a question in what was seen as possibly glamorising the drug.

"How many people in this crowd have seen molly?" she asked to which she received a wild response.

Molly is a slang word for MDMA which is one of the main components of ecstasy and popular with some fans of the electronic dance music scene.

But DJ Deadmau5 took to his Facebook page to slam the singer for using the reference saying that it did not set a very good example for her fans.

"Very classy there Madonna," he wrote. "'HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???' such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra."

"Quite the f'n philanthropist. But hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! f***ing cant smack my head hard enough right now." (sic)

Madonna has also raised eyebrows for naming her new album MDNA which is thought to be a play on MDMA.
