Madonna used her "own everything" for her new movie W.E.
The star has directed the period drama, starring Abbie Cornish. Madonna relocated to the UK while she was filming the movie and relied heavily on her own possessions to make the set look authentic.
"I used some of my own everything in the movie," she told the February issue of Glamour when asked if her furniture appears in the movie. "My paintings, my rugs, my chairs, my jewellery, some of my clothes Abbie wears. There were cars constantly going back and forth from my house in London."
Madonna is "fascinated" by the relationship between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII which is explored in the movie. The 53-year-old became immersed in the infamous romance which saw the British monarch abdicate the throne so he could marry the American divorcee.
She spent months researching the events, reading books on Wallis and visiting places where she had spent time.
"The effect she had on English history and on the world was fascinating, and what drew me to the story was trying to understand the nature of Edward VIII and Wallis' relationship, and why a man would give up such a powerful position for a woman," Madonna explained.
"It seemed revolutionary extremely romantic, not terribly rational, but it took me by surprise.
"I tried to go to places that they were at and soak up their energy. Of course, I wasn't allowed in Windsor Castle how very dare they?"
