Osthi, the Tamil remake of the Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg, gets its Munni finally. The film stars Silambarasan in the lead role and is directed by Dharani, who is popular in Telugu cinema too.

Simbu aka STR dons the role enacted by Salman Khan in the original. The movie has Tollywood actress Richa Gangopadhyaya playing the female lead.

The Munni item number was waiting to be done in Tamil and search was on for a popular face. Nayanthara and Shriya Saran were approached besides a few Bollywood girls.

Finally it seems that Mallika Sherawat has agreed to to the number with STR. She has been reportedly paid a huge sum for it. Mallika also performed a super hit item number in Mani Ratnam's blockbuster film Guru.
