Matthew McConaughey has finally gotten engaged to girlfriend Camila Alves in a romantic Christmas Day proposal.

The 42-year-old actor and the Brazilian model, 29, have been dating for five years and have two children together; Levi, three and 23-month-old Vida.

Back in March, the actor hinted that he was ready to say I do by telling Esquire magazine that he had "found the woman" he wanted to live out his life with.

"Just asked Camila to marry me," Matthew wrote on his Who Say account yesterday and posted a picture of him sealing the deal with a kiss from his sweetheart.

The loved up pair split their time between Matthew's home state of Texas and a residence in Malibu, close to the ocean for the surfing fanatic.

The proposal may have been a big surprise to Camila however, who recently revealed that they were in no rush to walk down the aisle.

"We've got no plans right now," she told OK magazine. "We're good as we are right now. We're happy and good as we are. So far, so good!"

But it appears life just got better for the gorgeous family. (C) Cover Media
