Matthew McConaughey appreciates "strong family values."

The 42-year-old Killer Joe actor recently relocated from Los Angeles, California to his native state of Texas with fianc Camila Alves and their two small children.

Fatherhood is paramount to Matthew and he believes his tots will benefit best from growing up in a small town environment.

"Family [inspired me to move back]!" Matthew told E! Online at the South by Southwest premiere of his film Killer Joe in Austin over the weekend. "I grew up here. We got children, family values, neighbours and common senseand I can catch a greenlight in Texas."

Matthew is elated to be premiering his new feature in his new hometown.

"Anytime I can get any movie of mine playing in Austin, it's great," Matthew gushed. "It feels homegrown for me. I feel like a local when I'm walking around here, going down the street in my neighbourhood, in my town."

Although Matthew much prefers the scene in Austin, the actor admits that he still has a special place in his heart for Hollywood.

"I'm not done with it," Matthew declared. "Thankfully, I'm able to have a home there and a home here."

Matthew and Brazilian model Camila have three-year-old son Levi and 15-month-old daughter Vida together.

The couple became engaged in December 2011.
