'Mental' feels the heat of the protests

22nd April 2013

Recently, there were reports of a dispute amongst the supporting crew of Salman Khan's upcoming film 'Mental'. The issue was related to the number of South Stuntmen and the artists from Mumbai.

As per the All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC)'s rules released in March 2013, 70% of the fighters have to be local, while 30% have to be from the region of the fight master.

As Sohail hired a leading South fight master for the film, the rules applied for 'Mental' as well. But the South stuntmen refused to shoot, as they demanded that the ratio should be of 50-50.

The Film Employees' Federation of South India (FEFSI) refused to send their stuntmen for the shoot which led to huge losses for the production.

The shooting was stopped for 12 days at a stretch which has caused the production team a loss of Rs. 25 lakhs.

The officials plan to take a stringent action against the artists from the South as they look at the whole incident as the violation of AIFEC's set rules.
