Michael Jackson's son in trial meeting'

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - A secret meeting has reportedly taken place to discuss Michael Jackson's oldest son testifying at the trial into the singer's death.

Deputy District Attorney David Walgren recently met with 14-year-old Prince and his grandmother Katherine Jackson. It has been claimed the prosecution is eager for Prince to give evidence at the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray.

However, Katherine wants to do everything she can to shelter her grandson if he does take to the stand.

"Walgren met with Prince and Katherine Jackson to discuss Prince taking the stand. Katherine wants to ensure that Prince will be protected as much as possible," a Jackson family insider told RadarOnline.com. "Even though she is steadfastly against Prince testifying, she recognises this is something that he very much wants to do.

"Make no mistake, Prince would have been called as a witness already if he was an adult."

Michael died in 2009 from acute Propofol intoxication. Dr. Murray has admitted giving Michael sedatives including Propofol to help him sleep, but his legal team allege the singer had been administering the drug himself.

Prince could be called as a rebuttal witness by the prosecution.

Prince and his sister Paris were both eyewitnesses to the scene in the bedroom where Michael died. Prince is also believed to have regularly seen Dr. Murray treat his father.

"Prince does have information that would be helpful for the jury to hear. However, it's a double-edged sword of putting a child in this case on the stand. This could be very traumatic," the source added. "There is a 50/50 chance that he will take the stand. Prince will be prepared if called to testify."

The trial is scheduled to resume on Wednesday.

The prosecution's final witness, Dr. Steven Shafer, will continue to testify.

The defence team are expected to call 15 witnesses to the stand. (C) Cover Media
