(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michelle Rodriguez has praised Natalie Portmans ability to portray weak women.
Michelle is famed for playing feisty characters in movies such as Battle: Los Angeles, Avatar and Machete, but respects actress who tackle frailer roles.
The star has no plans to follow in the footsteps of actresses such as Natalie Portman who won this years best actress Oscar for her role as a troubled ballerina in thriller Black Swan because she likes playing women whose heads are firmly screwed on.
I dont mind it because I did manifest my own destiny, she told Collider when asked if she worries about being stereotyped as an action star.
Its my fault because I dont like weak women and I dont find it interesting to play them. Im inspired by them, when I see them in dramas, like with Natalie Portman, in almost every movie shes in. Its awesome that chicks can really go there, and its beautiful to watch, but I dont think Im interested, in any way, shape or form, in embodying those creatures.
I dont find it intriguing, as far as being in the business and working. Its not my thing. Theres something about strength that I really admire, that I failed to see a lot of when I was growing up. In the last ten years, I was so adamant about embodying that, that I lost sight of the big picture, which is versatility and flexibility.
Michelle is currently in the process of writing a movie, which she is remaining fairly tight-lipped about. The actress is trying not to put too much pressure on herself with regards to it, although instinct is telling her it will be a success.
Im 50 pages into my first script, and my buddy is gonna help me produce it. Its really just all about feeling it out. If it sucks, it sucks. If its great, its great. Im just following my gut, she explained. (C) Cover Media
