Minnie Driver: I wont chase youth

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Minnie Driver isnt interested in having plastic surgery to land movie roles and is finally happy with herself.

The 40-year-old actress insists there have been times when she didnt like the way she looked, but has now learned to accept her body. She admits it can be tough when you are getting older in Hollywood and many other stars go to great lengths to preserve their looks. However, Minnie isnt willing to try to delay the signs of ageing in a bid to play younger characters.

Youve got to somehow stay dignified and committed. All that chasing youth and plastic surgery means you cant be playing the parts you should be because youre trying to be 32, she said in an interview with British newspaper The Daily Mail. When you see that somebodys face has been pulled and tweaked, that is somebody who is frightened of where they are. I think Im finally happy with me as I am, thank you very much.

Minnies latest big screen outing is in Conviction, which also stars Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell. In the movie, Minnie plays the best friend of Hilarys character, who persuades her pal to study law to help her brother who has been wrongly jailed for murder.

She was thrilled to land the role and felt a strong connection to her feisty character.

It was a part made in heaven, she explained. Shes strong and direct and bang up for it, a fantastic woman. I like playing roles like that. (C) Cover Media
