(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nick Lachey says he's very excited about the imminent arrival of his first child.

The 38-year-old singer-and-television host is expecting a son with wife Vanessa who is due in September.

He told Us Weekly that although he currently has a very busy schedule there is nothing he is looking forward to more than holding his baby boy.

"We're just trying to enjoy our last couple of months of freedom here," he told the publication. "Getting the nursery ready, making sure we've got all our hospital plans together. All that stuff."

Nick says that Vanessa, 31, has been blessed with a "very smooth pregnancy" but that they are just "excited to move into the next phase and meet this little guy."

"You see him in sonograms and you feel him move you just want to meet him!" Nick gushed. "Hurry up and get out of there!"

Meanwhile, Nick is gearing up for his new TV show Stars Earn Stripes which challenges celebrities to execute missions inspired by real military exercises.

And the multi-talented star is going back to his roots and is set to perform with his old band 98 Degrees this summer for the first time in 10 years. (C) Cover Media
