(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nicolas Cage has returned to work after his arrest at the weekend.

The 47-year-old actor showed up on the set of action film Medallion on Monday after he was taken into custody late Friday night by police in New Orleans after what they described as a public fight with his wife Alice Kim.

The Oscar-winning star was arrested after witnesses saw him arguing with his wife on the street while apparently heavily intoxicated.

The episode has not affected Nicolas filming schedule according to The Hollywood Reporter. The website has revealed that despite spending hours in jail at the weekend, the actor showed up on set ready to work on his new film.

Police were said to have been alerted to the alleged incident in the early hours by a taxi driver. According to official records, Cage was held on suspicion of domestic abuse and disturbing the peace in New Orleans. He was released after reality star Dog "The Bounty Hunter" Chapman paid $11,000 bail.

There were no visible injuries to Nicolas wife and she is not pressing charges. (C) Cover Media
