No takers for RGV's 'Satya 2'

1st July 2013

Ram Gopal Varma's film 'Satya', was a hit which made it to the list of classic underworld movies of Bollywood. Besides, the project also gave the industry a talented actor, Manoj Bajpayee a.k.a. 'Bhiku Mhatre'. So when RGV decided to make the sequel of the gangster movie, this sure made news in the media.

The latest news on the sequel is that 'Satya 2' is surprisingly running into issues when it comes to buyers. The movie, which is in post-production, is in fact unable to strike the expected movie deals.

Insiders reveal that since the original was released, there have been multiple gangster movies, and the formula has been further accessorized by the production houses, as they have opted for stars and not newcomers to play the protagonists as underworld celebs in their movies.

So RGV's 'Satya 2', which has mostly new faces, is becoming difficult to sell to distributors, channels and the likes.

Besides, based on trade analysts, the manner in which RGV handles the underworld concept might not be in sync with the new-generation audiences, who are now more used to seeing the top Bollywood stars in the don avatars.

RGV gave us 'Bhiku Mhatre', so let's see if he can churn yet another talent from his production house with his latest installment of 'Satya'.
