(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan could be set to stay in rehab for the foreseeable future.
Plans are in place for the troubled actress to remain at the Betty Ford clinic in California at least until her next court appearance on October 22 - where she must explain why she failed two random drugs tests.
However, Judge Elden Fox may decide that Lohan needs more treatment following this date, according to website TMZ.
The judge will examine notes from doctors at the rehab facility to monitor the stars progress and determine if the 24-year-old needs further help instead of a return to prison.
Last month, Lohan was taken into custody after failing the court-ordered drug tests before her lawyers successfully appealed for her release from Lynwood Correctional Facility. She later voluntarily checked herself into rehab.
Earlier this year, the star spent 13 days in jail and 23 days in rehab after she violated the terms of her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Upon leaving rehab she had to submit to a number of rules including random drug tests, but failed two.
Lohan has completed several stints in rehab before, including being treated at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center, Wonderland Center and Promises Treatment Center. (C) Cover Media
