One Direction want royal show

22nd March 2012

One Direction's "big plans" would be "struck out of the diary" if it meant they could perform for Britain's Queen Elizabeth.

The emerging boyband comprising of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson recently made music history by becoming the first British group to top the US charts with their debut album.

The band have been enjoying huge success in America with Up All Night, however the boys insist that performing at the Diamond Jubilee concert this summer would be the icing on the cake.

Harry says the group would love to star alongside Sir Paul McCartney at the concert to commemorate Britain's Queen Elizabeth.

"I'd love to meet Her Royal Highness. And I grew up listening to the Beatles because my dad used to play them over and over again. I still listen to them now. They're quite an inspiration," Harry told British newspaper The Mirror.

"It'd be amazing if Paul McCartney was up for doing something... I love him. That would be incredible. We've got a lot of big plans but I'm sure anything would be struck out of the diary if an invitation came along."

Meanwhile, the 18-year-old has discussed what he hopes to spend his money on. Harry wants to remain firmly on the ground, so is thinking in practical terms and is planning to buy a new mattress.

"I'm going to treat myself to a new one. I need a good one. The one I'm using is still the one that was there when I moved in. The springs have gone," he told British newspaper The Sun. "I hear those memory foam ones are good. I need one of those."

One Direction shot to fame after coming third in the 2010 season of the UK version of X Factor, and are signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco.

Harry joked they'd be taking advantage of Simon's wallet when it comes to celebrations.

"We'll have a party when we get a chance but first of all we're definitely going to get Simon Cowell to cough up and take us out for dinner in LA," he quipped.
