(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Patrick Dempsey says his character is oblivious to everything in Grey's Anatomy: The Musical Event.

The 45-year-old actor plays Dr. Derek Shepherd in the US medical drama, which will air a special musical episode on March 31.

Cast members including Chandra Wilson, Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver will display their vocal talents, although Patrick is quick to point out that his character wont be impressing fans with any secret talents.

Patrick praised his fellow cast members for doing a phenomenal job though, as he chatted at the John Varvatos' 8th Annual Stuart House Benefit on Sunday.

Other celebrities to attend the charity bash included Jesse Williams, David Schwimmer and Zoe Saldana. The annual event raises money for Stuart House, which provides support for sexually abused children. Patrick is father to three kids with his wife Jillian Fink; daughter Tallulah Fyfe, nine, and twin sons Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen, four. As a doting parent, he admits tackling the problem of child abuse is one he holds close to his heart.

Well, we have children, he replied, when asked why he supports Stuart House.
