(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Penelope Cruz has revealed that she literally lived on pasta while filming in Italy.

The Spanish beauty stars in Woody Allen film To Rome with Love which was shot in the ancient city.

But she told Extra that unlike other actresses who shy away from the fattening starchy food, she could not get enough.

"I really had spaghetti for breakfast, lunch and dinner," Penelope laughed. "I can't control myself."

"I love Spanish food, but Italian food for me is my favourite thing. I would eat pasta every day of my life. That's what I do when I'm there. It's too easy to find."

But she says that she was able not to gain any weight by "working really hard."

The kaleidoscope comedy deals with the effects of fame which Penelope is very familiar with.

"The first time I realised [I was famous] I was really young and in Spain," she recalled. "I realised it because in the same minute somebody walking along the street screamed at me, I love you' and then 10 seconds later somebody else screamed a really horrible insult.

"Both things were so out of proportion, I didn't know them and I was like, Okay, this is what it is." (C) Cover Media
