Prince William: Wedding was daunting

24th May 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Prince William admits that he was extremely overwhelmed by wedding details.

The future king married his long-term love Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey in April last year. The royal wedding attracted interest from people around the world.

William was initially upset by the invitation list.

"I was given a list in the first meeting of 777 names, and not one of them on there I knew," William reveals on The Jubilee Queen With Katie Couric, an American TV special celebrating the Queen's Jubilee. "So it was a bit daunting and it was like, well, that seems to be the guest list's sorted, but no room for friends or family. And I wasn't too happy about it."

Luckily his grandmother Queen Elizabeth provided a resolution to the conflict.

"I rang her for a bit of moral support and a bit of backup," he recalled. "She said, 'Ridiculous. Get rid of the list. Start from your friends.' "

William admits that he still wasn't completely appeased even with his grandmother's encouragement.

"It was one of those days where you feel very elated," he shared. "Also completely terrified, I have to be honest. The prospect of two billion people watching was quite daunting."

The Jubilee Queen with Katie Couric TV special will broadcast in the US on May 29. (C) Cover Media
