August 18, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Eminent fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh has teamed up with stylist Ambika Pillai to give a new chic look to the cabin crew of India's largest low-fare carrier IndiGo Airlines. The duo will offer an international look to the crew of IndiGo with their dark blue tunic and IndiGo blue hats.
Rajesh Pratap Singh has given a perfect international touch to the Indian designs. In the current scenario, his creations are one of the most admired designs in the fashion fraternity. He has designed the well-styled, clean cut tunic for the cabin crew of IndiGo. The bi-colored tunic is somewhere between a tennis and a shirt dress. Going with the spirit of the airline, a highlight of indigo is used on the belt.
The airline is going to be the first in India to use a hat for the cabin crew. The IndiGo cabin crew wings are nicely displayed on the IndiGo blue hat.
The designer has used subtle style and graphic elements while creating this new fresh look. Comfort and stretch required for the ease of movement are the two things, which were mainly considered while designing the new dress. They also incorporated different technical functional necessities of the in-flight environment.
Before designing the dress for IndiGo, Rajesh Pratap took some inputs from the flight crew and senior management to identify their requirements. The single piece garment is very light and easy to wear.
Speaking about the final masterpiece, Rajesh Pratap Singh was quoted saying that they have tried to provide the best of designs considering the spirit and requirements of the airline. He hoped that the crew enjoys the new uniform.
Celebrity hair and makeup artist Ambika Pillai entered the scene once the uniform was ready. With huge experience of grooming many models and Bollywood celebrities, Pillai started her work of grooming the cabin crew by giving them a global look, which can be seen in the recent TV commercial of IndiGo. She has given a short hairstyle to all the girls, which is a very first innovation in any airlines in India.
Ambika has used beautiful pink and brick red color on the lips as well as nails while doing make up of the girls in the cabin crew. An entire new look is given by keeping the eyes nude with a pull out liner. The stylist Pillai also created the original look of the crew four years back, when IndiGo was launched.
