Shankar Shanmugam directorial '2.0' that has a deadly combination of two giants, Megastar Rajinikanth and Bollywood's Khiladi Akshay Kumar will probably release next year. After a grand music launch in Dubai and the delayed trailer launch, the makers hinted the film's release this Diwali. Earlier some sources stated that it would release opposite to Akshay Kumar's 'Gold' on August 15. However, according to a latest update the film has been stuck with a lot of VFX work to be wrapped and 2.0 will not be able to release this year. It would probably release in 2019 and the date is yet not revealed. 

A source close to the team said, "With the amount of VFX work on 2.0 that is still pending there is no way the makers will be able to release the film this year. In fact, the producers are currently working out a perfect release date for the film that will now hit screens in 2019 and an announcement of the same will be done in the last quarter of the year."

The VFX work will be complete by the end of this year. On the work front, Rajnikanth had his film 'Kaala' released that also featured Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi. While Akshay Kumar is awaited for his upcoming film 'Gold' that also stars Mouni Roy.
