Bollywood's acclaimed filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is currently making a film based on the real life incident of 26/11 terror attacks that took place in Mumbai.
The incident that terrorized the lives of Mumbaikars will be put onscreen by Ramu, who is very involved in the film. He, who has been shooting for the film at various locales of Mumbai had to put in a lot of effort to get permission to shoot at CST railway station. The authorities however barred him from using a large portion of the station and he was restricted to a certain area.
But when he approached the authorities of Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel at Colaba he was denied the permission completely.
Taj Hotel was a hostage of terrorists who functioned from there for a long time. And hence Ramu wanted to shoot there as it would make the shooting more real. But when he was denied the permission, he rented another five star hotel and has now decided to erect a set inside it giving it the look of the Taj. The set will be designed by art director Uday Singh for which RGV will have to shell out around 2.5 crores.
Ramu justified his act by stating, "It could be traumatic for many to see the recreation of that horrible tragedy. For me, in the context of the attacks, a five star hotel is the symbol of human achievement in terms of splendor. To see blood flowing on its polished floors and its pristine walls and artifacts there to be riddled with bullets are living testimony of the ultimate barbarism Man is capable of doing," said Ramu.
