It is Karan Malhotra directorial 'Shamshera' and the audiences were taken by surprise as the makers finalised Ranbir Kapoor as the ideal protagonist for the film who is all set to play a fearless dacoit. The makers also revealed that Sanjay Dutt is roped in to play the negative role and Vaani Kapoor is picked as the female lead.
It is a super long wait as the makers have revealed the release date of the film which is July 31, 2020. Ranbir Kapoor has a tight schedule for the next two years as the actor is currently busy shooting for Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' and nex,t he will shoot for Luv Ranjan's untitled project with Ajay Devgn. That's the reason for the film's delay maybe.
In a recent interview when asked about the film, Ranbir said, "It is not a story of a daaku, but a film based in the 1800s. The film majorly revolves around a dacoit tribe who are fighting for their right and independence from the British. Shamshera is in the aspirational space, the space of true, badass commercial cinema."
Looking at his recent outing, the talented actor is gaining praises all over for his performance in 'Sanju'. In the film, Ranbir played the role of Sanjay Dutt and the film is inching closer to Rs 200 crore at the box office. The film will go on floors in the mid of 2019.
