'Resident Evil' Makes A Killing at the Box Office

13th September 2010

September 13, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' was released this weekend and it generated huge revenue in the box office. The second week of September was not very eventful as most Hollywood production houses chose to stay away from releasing their movies during this time of the year.

Since it had no competition in the market, 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' made a killing at the box office and made a lot of money. The producers claim that the movie totally exceeded their expectations and audiences from all over the world chipped in, to watch the flick. The fourth film from the 'Resident Evil' franchisee has more zombies, more blood and certainly more action. Above all, the movie has been shot in 3D to enhance the experience.

This was the lowest grossing weekend of the year and it made a mere $82 million at the box office. Last Weekend's top Draw was the George Clooney starrer 'The American', which took $5.9 million for Focus Features.

Resident Evil capitalized well on the Post Labor Day weekend. The producers said that 'Afterlife' provided everything that the audience needed form the film and that is what made it so popular. The producers also credited the marketing of the film. Insiders suggest that resident Evil will continue its victory run for the next few weeks.
