December 31, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bengali film director Riingo is busy and excited filming his upcoming venture System. In a statement to the media, Riingo says that he is busy with work on the first film based on the underworld from the Bengali film industry. Ask him if he is aware of a certain Ekti Tarar Khonje by Avik Mukhopadhyay released as early as this year, and which was regarded as a portrayal of the underworld in this part of the country, and pat comes Riingos reply that his film has authentic reports of the underworld operating in Bengal and Bangladesh.
With an ensemble cast of Indraneil Sengupta, Subhra Kundu and Indrajit Chakravarty, System sure sounds an exciting watch. Riingo says in his statement to the media that he has also got in touch with people who are close to the underworld of Bengal and Bangladesh to ensure that his film does not fall short of content. Based on the information of these people, whose identities Riingo would prefer to keep under wraps, the filmmaker has acquired knowledge of certain terms that the underworld operators use.
It was interesting to hear that the underworld in eastern India refers to crore as komor and lakh as haath! And while we are more acquainted with the term supari from the dose of underworld movies released from Bollywood, the Bengal and Bangladeshi terrorists refer to it as notice. System hits theaters in Bengal next year.
